Intermediate Designer
Los Altos, California
We seek an experienced designer with excellent technical skills to collaborate closely with the Principal and team members on diverse projects, managing all phases of the design process from concept to completion. This role involves design development and detailed documentation, including creating interior architectural drawings and related materials, as well as overseeing project execution and coordination. Responsibilities also include sourcing exceptional furnishings, refining details and finishes, aligning selections with budgets, and supervising project installations to ensure seamless delivery.

Responsibilities include:
- Conceptual design, schematic design and design development while creating mood boards to effectively communicate design intent.
- Producing interior architectural documents such as floor plans, elevations, RCP, millwork drawings, and custom furniture designs.
- Designing overall home layout, including kitchens, bathrooms, fireplace details, and other key elements that bring a home’s design vision to life.
- Selection of materials and finishes, sourcing and curating contemporary furniture, furnishings, fabrics, lighting, art and accessories
- Creating schedules with accurate product information for all tile and stone, paint, millwork, casework, appliances, plumbing, hardware finishes, and accessories
- Assist the project manager in processing and tracking furniture and furnishings orders
- Managing and following up on progress of work throughout all phases of design, fabrication, and construction.
- Field visits, taking measurements, and managing construction administration tasks, including site inspections and installations, addressing RFIs, reviewing samples and vendor shop drawings
Job Requirements:
- A degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture or equivalent skill set
- At least three to five years of experience working within a firm doing high-end residential design
- Expertise in AutoCAD, Studio Designer, Asana, Office 365/Google Suite. Knowledge of Revit/SketchUp is a plus
- The ability to work on projects all across the Bay Area and San Francisco. The ideal candidate must own/have access to a reliable car.
- Furniture selection & specification, hardware, lighting, floor/window coverings, switches, materials, and finishes.
- Experienced in working closely with a wide range of vendors, showrooms, workrooms, subcontractors, and partner teams on job sites.
- Strong ability to promptly and effectively resolve on-site challenges.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and keen attention to detail, effectively managing multiple projects at different stages.
- Participate in team meetings and construction site visits and maintain meeting notes for internal documentation.
