When a blended family needed more space for their 5 teenagers, we embarked on an extensive and complicated addition — lifting the existing structure to add 2,000 sq feet of basement living space. A year and a half of construction and chaos was worth the wait. Today, they enjoy an airy, spacious home that’s youthful, fresh, and modern.

Kids and adults can enjoy spaces together or apart with lounge and dining located on both levels. The basement lounge area doubles as a media room with a drop down projector hidden in the ceiling. We also integrated multiple bedrooms and bathrooms within the expanded footing in this Palo Alto home. Art and furnishings throughout are a mix of high-end and low-end, old and new, modern and eclectic to fit the lifestyle of this dynamic family.
